1,950 graduate students.

The undergraduate student-to-faculty ratio is 5 to 1 and the median class size is 11. The learning environment at Rice University is small and personalized, giving undergraduates the opportunity to engage in research with faculty and graduate students.

 
Academics
 

Rice University has eight academic schools:

School of Architecture
School of Continuing Studies
George R. Brown School of Engineering
School of Humanities

Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management
Shepherd School of Music
Wiess School of Natural Sciences
School of Social Sciences

Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees are offered in different departments within these schools and in interdisciplinary academic programs.

Community
 

At Rice University, all incoming undergraduate students are randomly assigned to one of nine residential colleges. Each student-governed college has its own dining hall, living quarters, study and meeting rooms.

The residential college system strengthens the campus community, bringing together students of different ages, majors, ethnicities, and talents.
