Vacant Buildings on Chaucer to be Demolished
(Posted June 2007)

In early August, Rice University will demolish three vacant buildings on
Chaucer Street in the Village (duplexes at 5615/17 and 5609/11 Chaucer,
and a house and garage apartment located 5603/05 Chaucer, all on the east
side of the street near the intersection of Chaucer and University Blvd.). 
Because they are no longer suitable for residential rental use, the
buildings will be demolished to prevent vacant structures from attracting
undesirable activities to this mixed residential and commercial area. 
The university has no current plans to develop these properties.
